Years ago, I followed the directions found in Liber Astarte for bhakti devotion to the Deity Ogun. The preparation was elaborate and the ritual itself was highly effective. I learn now that Ogum is the Portuguese variant for the same Deity, but it is noted in Quimbanda that Ogum is effective at crossroad transitions. A Guardian of the directions and passage beyond the crossroads. Looking back, I can't recall the "reason" for selecting Ogum from the pantheon but it was very natural I remember.

I am encountering morphic resonance with my ancestral memory. Quimbanda being a relatively new title, became home for older witchcraft and rituals. Something before that, which fell into the category of Macumba, which was pejorative, better fits the criteria. The incorporation of European elements greatly attracts me in terms of methodology. I am an avid believer in the power of The Goetia. They have helped me secure several things and I enjoy working with them. On the other side of my ancestry I have European cultural memory.
I want to read Rupert Sheldrake's The Presence of the Past. I ordered it. I just finished The Man In the High Castle. I got my Mom into God is not great by Christopher Hitchens. Hitchens and Sheldrake on the same shelf. Good reads.
