The Social Mesh

Mesh Networking is a fascinating topic for me at the moment. Admittedly, I am not usually deep into this aspect of technology. The appeal lies in the implications of it's use as an emergency device or potential life support system. A means of interconnectivity and communication.

This is an excellent discussion on mesh networking and the introduction provides a short over-view of it's major concepts. Though the gentleman from Opengarden provides some general idea of how mesh networking will interact with the larger ISP community, I really enjoyed the commentary
from Sri Srikrishna.

On the mesh networking wiki, they provide a link for a do it yourself guide to building a rural network.
This is where my interest really ties in. A mesh network could provide a wide array of educational data and of course provide communication relay. The possibilities exceed my current imagination.

Sri mentions the situation in Syria where communication was interupted by the government. Check out 19:33 on the video.

Smart phones and Ios really hold some of the keys but perhaps pressure will force them to "open" up. Allowing the communication to be consolidated to government and corporate manipulation is irresponsible.

And Viking music.

Sólstafir - Fjara

This "viking music" was randomly found and entertained me the other day. During my listen I found myself considering the viking-norse mythology and of course I had just finished reading
By Ragnar Redbeard...

...which has elements of Aryan superiority and other eugenically convenient concepts. This made me consider how Yule was a very disjointed cultural celebration for me and my family. It occured to me how odd that might appear to others. Seeing as how we aren't very Norse at all. Then...

Viking Raggae.

A fitting moment for the man considering cultural alienation.

I am currently reading an excerpt from Men Among the Ruins by Julius Evola. Strangely, I find the material very familiar to the concept of Memes as coined by Richard Dawkins. I am referring to Chapter Thirteen: Weapons of the Occult War. I find it strange because of a sort of validation that has occurred for me. Men Among the Ruins was first published in 1953 and the word Meme is later coined by Dawkins in 1972 in his work titled The Selfish Gene.
A philospher/esotericist and an atheist/evolutionary biologist describing similar phenomenon.

Another similar situation occurred with Aleister Crowley and Carl Jung. After reading The Eye in the Triangle by Israel Regardie. I felt immediately that this man's spiritual journey was indeed a fair portrait of attempted individuation. This was obvious to Regardie who later in his career became a psychoanalyst, and he in all due credit was the first to attempt to illustrate this in a biography of Crowley. However, it was Jung's Red Book that provided further insight into the occult symbolism and it's relationship with Jungian concepts.

Liber Novus
by C.G. Jung

The Red Book was held hostage until it was finally published in 2009. This book is essentially what an occultist might call a magical diary or record. I quote from the Wiki:

A magical record is a journal or other source of documentation containing magical events, experiences, ideas, and any other information that the magician may see fit to add. There can be many purposes for such a record, such as recording evidence to verify the effectiveness of specific procedures (per the scientific method that Aleister Crowley claimed should be applied to the practice of magick) or to ensure that data may propagate beyond the lifetime of the magician. Benefits of this process vary, but usually include future analysis and further education by the individual and/or associates with whom the magician feels comfortable in revealing such intrinsically private information.
Crowley was highly insistent upon the importance of this practice. As he writes in Liber E, "It is absolutely necessary that all experiments should be recorded in detail during, or immediately after, their performance (...) The more scientific the record is, the better. Yet the emotions should be noted, as being some of the conditions. Let then the record be written with sincerity and care; thus with practice it will be found more and more to approximate to the ideal."[18] Other items he suggests for inclusion include the physical and mental condition of the experimenter, the time and place, and environmental conditions, including the weather.

With The Red Book we could finally have a glimpse of just how Jung interacted with his own psychic material.

Another Quote shows the likeness of the two men:

"The years… when I pursued the inner images, were the most important time of my life. Everything else is to be derived from this. It began at that time, and the later details hardly matter anymore. My entire life consisted in elaborating what had burst forth from the unconscious and flooded me like an enigmatic stream and threatened to break me. That was the stuff and material for more than only one life. Everything later was merely the outer classification, scientific elaboration, and the integration into life. But the numinous beginning, which contained everything, was then."

Crowley was favorable to ritual much like the modern work of Antero Alli:
Some of the Red Book really reminds me of Austin O Spare.
The validation I speak of is of a corresponding pattern in the inner workings of spiritual/mystic endeavors and analytical psychology. These coalescing worlds utilize the being as an apparatus. An instrument measuring an environment with the eyes shut.

From the industrial into the nuclear winter

Still listening to this album. Returned home with it awaiting.
Enjoying this a lot.

Why such force? Why such brutality? Lately this is the lamentation of others. Violence speaks in tongues. It rolls over like a white eye and severs all connections. Punctuated blade in your gut.
Receive the Word and be delivered.
Beware of those who smell battle and lust for union.

My brother introduced me to a few new things. He spoke of the Towers of Silence that belong to Zoroastrianism. I thought it was a very fascinating device. Mystical technology instead of mere architecture. He also shared this with me:

The Eye in the Triangle
An interpretation of Aleister Crowley
By
Israel Regardie

This was a really good read. The author new Crowley personally and was familiar with him through occultism. Further in his life, Regardie became a psychoanalyst. The influences of occultism and psychoanalysis did shine but offered what I felt was a balanced and tasteful exploration into an often enamored or defamed character.

Some may be annoyed to find that this book speaks only of the "highlights" of Crowley's career, according to Regardie. The author barely mentions the O.T.O. and the end of Aleister Crowley's life. He claims to be offering the best of the man and avoided what he considered marginal or mediocre. I would have to investigate further to reveal whether I agree with that or not.

The guru is shrouded in mystery and that is what protects him from being controlled by his ghosts. To invoke his ghosts is to possess the demons that move in loops.

With the Current

Chris Hedges on the work of Sheldon Wolin, 17 May 2011 from Lannan Foundation on Vimeo.

Inverted totalitarianism and the works of Sheldon Wolin are providing a great deal of insight into the current nature of the United States. This organism without accountability has reached critical mass. In another video, Wolin points out how barbarism is a harsh reality that requires only small amounts to persuade the masses to persevere by assembling once again. How high is your tolerance to chaos and violence? What is your threshold? Will you let go?

Applying static principles to economic evolution is a fruitless venture. Yet there is a surplus of those who attempt to do so. Letting go of the nostalgic residue from the past and moving forward by recognizing the situation at hand. This is one prescription for elevating one's self to join the real conversation.

Though inverted totalitarianism may be another gradient added to the incomplete spectrum of phasic political events, it is still a measure of progress. There is a disregard for transitional positions within political and social worlds here in the United States. It is often regarded as a departure from Capitalism even if it is anything but.  As if it's applicability could not be outgrown or to leave it means total abandonment.

Fall brings things inside.

Fall brings it indoors...
Fall brings the garden indoors. It also marks the start of my Winter project preparation. Today we spent some time transplanting, cutting, and tending both the hydroponic and soil gardens.

Marmorkreb
"Big Mama: The Marmorkreb"

Though the Emily's garden is sold as a hydroponic system, I consider it a possibility for a prototype tank for the Marmorkrebs. Currently, I have a ten gallon aquarium that we will be housing the full size crayfish and its two spawn. I have yet to determine the ratio between enclosure size and colonization.

It is hoped that the marmorkrebs will be an excellent alternative for aquaponics. Typically, people are using tilapia or other fish to provide the fertile waste for their crops.  Marmorkrebs may offer another alternative. If farmed in conjunction with fish you could use the marmorkrebs as a feeder.

Now it is time to review crops and plan the planting cycles.

Low.

The lapse in correspondence. Not indicative of negative corollaries. Just been laying low and withdrawing momentarily.
All this energy invested into systems. Systems require time to assimilate and this is a natural progressive  activity. Usually stretches over a lifetime. A mild offering of hope is interwoven through the discipline.

Occasionally, my taste for this art turns bitter and I begin to reject it. This is a indication that I have usually crossed my threshold. Not in discipline nor in practice. It is true that cessation motivates me. For this I have no shame. Yet I know that I will return to my systems in time.

I do not condemn myself to hedonism, nor do I reject the suspicions that I am being hoodwinked by schema. I somehow retain an observance that simultaneously allows for subjectivity. This is nothing new to those who have obsessed over duality and polarization at some length.  This process offers the dual representation while allowing for the operator to familiarize intimately with processes that would otherwise remain subconscious.

The theme for late has been low.
Low Magick and High. The Practical and the precise.
Low is a common point of entry, especially for those who's egotism negates their attraction towards the dogmatism of High Magick.

The solar adorations outlined in Liber Resh, remain a daily exercise. Here is an article I found that extrapolates the general: Who And What Are Those Egyptian References In Liber Resh?

In this episode of the speech in the silence, Dr. Shoemaker goes into the visualizations that can correspond with the exercise. This is something I utilize with my ritual.

Interestingly, the visualization experience opened another influential avenue in Tibetan models: The Bardos. The act of envisioning the barque traveling across the surface lends itself quite well to invoking elements of the Bardo Thodol. Here is a good article on the Bardos: From Rest for the Fortunate by Bardor Tulku Rinpoche

Yesterday Cory left for Portland.
I went out for drinks with Bolivar.
I am hungover.

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

Yesterday's observation of devotion was excellent. I concluded the evening with a run and thirty minute meditation. Today I recuperate and read my cards. Usually I do this every Monday, but Labor Day activities took precedence.

The conversation led through the cards are casting a great deal of insight regarding my subconscious operations. Essentially this is a way of conversing with my own predispositions, schema, and rendering them to objectivity. A relative state where manipulation and change can begin their course.

Today was Rhys' first day of class in the Montessori program. He was up and ready! After class we went to go get some yogurt. I spent the majority of the day working on a writing project with The Uncondemning Monk. Not sure what direction it is taking. It is heavy on the illustration end so far and bones with text.

Just finished a thirty minute ritual devotional. These things are better tailored as they develop. Very successful tratak meditation on Ogun.

Liber Astarte

1. Considerations before the Threshold. Ogun, Orisha of war, labor, politics, prophecy, and magick.
2.Concerning the prime method of this Magickal Art. Yoruba source with Brazillian influence.
3.Concerning the chief place of devotion. A shrine has been prepared in the basement of my home. It is safely protected from the profane in a private room, lit by a single northern window.
4.Concerning the Image of the Deity.
5.Further concerning the shrine. A list of offerings: Tabacco, rum, blood, incense, shotgun shells, candles. set before a black canvas with the image of the Deity centered for concentration. Also facing North.
6.Concerning the ceremonies.
"Ogun, Master of Arms,
take me into battle,
to that distant fiddler's green.
Ogun, demand my strength,
as I attempt to stand beside thee.
Ogun, hear these words, for it is labor for our chance of union.
Ogun, destroy Maya and pierce illusion,
I devote.
I declare.
I invoke thee."

7.Further concerning the ceremonies. Breakdown of a Remington 870 shotgun.
8.Concerning the period of devotion and the hours thereof. Once daily for thirty days.
9.Concerning the Robes and Instruments. A shot-glass will suffice to serve a daily serving of rum. A hooded garment with the mark of the Orisha.
10.Concerning the incense and libations. Rum and Tobacco.
11.Concerning the harmony of the ceremonies. A power amplifier will provide a variety of music and possibly entrainment material to influence the ritual.
12.Concerning the variety of ceremonies. Sharpening with the stone of various blades that I have.
13.Concerning the life of the devotee. Creative force dedicated to a daily rate of production. I will read material on political spheres, a task normally not taken, but rather avoided. A fitness regimine that competes with previous training.
14.Further..."Let him practice according to the rules of Liber Vel Jugorum"To control thy thought and speech and honor the ruler of devotion.

Osiris

It is difficult to imagine this place. As it is, and not "as it should be".  Foreshadowing reveals a future that is encumbered by incomplete mythologies. Divorced from any active component or utilization. All around are these passive non-participatory institutions of worship. Perhaps the picture I imagine is to extreem to be considered neutrality. Then let neutrality be the enemy.

Let the spirit shine.

Often, I consider the various schools and systems that are intended to offer consciousness expansion. Or the promise of elevating adherents to a higher quality of existence. Not only do I consider the worth of their various techniques and methods, I also consider the latent sense that drives the fractured soul to obsess over the practices. Only then do I respect my intentions and try the exercises out.

Islam and Judaism offer various methods of expanding consciousness, i.e. the Kabbala and Salah. These are but two examples but even so it embarrasses an impoverished system such as Christianity.

Osiris from the Egyptians was the borrowed legend. This we know. It isn't solely the borrowing from a previous culture that disturbs me, after all I love Hinduism's contemporary: Buddhism, it is the lack of applications and tools. It relies on a book corrupted by societies and a myth of a divine architect that divides man against man, book against book. I abhor generally all major passive religions, yet it is Christianity that is the one responsible for so much spiritual and mental immaturity around me.

The majority of the Christian Gnostic Gospels are destroyed and very little regarding meditation and devotion exists. The Catholics have a monopoly on rituals and I must note this. However, these are executed by clergy and doesn't suggest that the congregation is suited for anything other than observation.

Jefferson himself had to reinterpret the bible for moral use, dismissing a significant portion to superstitions and misinterpretations. This is where I will start: http://www.angelfire.com/co/JeffersonBible/
Then onto the Gnostic Bible I found at a local bookstore. Perhaps this study will provide a salve to an otherwise festering wound known as Christianity.

revolving evolver

Designing some new sonic material to collaborate with. Perhaps it will develop independently, we shall see... The APC makes building rhythms more interactive which I enjoy. It takes a while to write beats that have an organic feel without this machine. This really streamlines the process.

Microzyk might be coming together for an EP. We have yet to develop a concept or direction. As for the Rhizome Connectome project, I am really finding more ways to put together material but as of yet I have been holding back. Simple orchestrations are always attractive but do not come together as easy as expected.

At least that is the case when I am arranging. These things develop with patience. Familiarity with what the equipment can do also enhances the ability to articulate the soundscape.

At this point I am beyond the novice and venturing forward ...though the work has only begun.

The Bardos

Two days ago I took some psilocybin and enjoyed a rather intensely pleasurable experience. I had prepared by reading The Psychedelic Experience (a manual based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead) several weeks prior. Allowing this time to adjust and ingest the information contained in the book really set the experience off right when I was finally ready. My son was back home visiting his mother which left the home open for use. The Tibetan model that surrounds the corruption of the faculties at the time of death or ego loss, remains with heavy influence upon me. This is a recent article that proved enriching: The Bardos that I had read about corresponded quite well with the entire session. I was able to recognize the various hallucinations and refer to them with the manual. Overall, my desire to control the experience was to a much more significant degree suspended. The familiarity with scenes and mental processes provided the comfort necessary to retreat into further exploration. The disposition and overall mood was confident and reassuring. Flowing in and out of alternating modes of perceptual distortion, I felt at ease and able to reflect on the nature of mental oscillations. I began listening to the Heart Sutra and picking up on the internal rhythms that fell into synch from time to time with the waves of effect. An hour in I was perceiving what I considered to be the processes of my autonomic nervous system. Specifically entertaining was the heart rate and breathing rhythm. It became the center of preoccupation for some time. What little anxiety remained was countered by pacing out my breaths and walking. I performed my Liber Resh at dusk and had some particularly exaggerated effects that were great. I performed the adoration facing the western horizon and shut my eyes. I coordinated the breath and concentrated on the visualization of being "within the barque". Brilliant glowing lights filled the closed field of vision and brightened vibrantly as I spoke. At one particular moment I recollect trying to decode a language internally and thinking "this is molecular information". Internally guiding your system away from the ego is a challenge. The desire to control is overwhelming and often pulls like an angry child. I felt some progress with this trip and came away with something.-pronounced dead on arrival-. It was spiritual for me and the correlations between the Bardos and this journey were tandem thus delivering me at ego loss and conjuring an approach to what lies within the Godhead.

Ogun

"Concerning the Image of the Deity. Let there be an image of the Deity; first because in meditation there is mindfulness induced thereby; and second because a certain power enters and inhabits it by virtue of the ceremonies; or so it is said, and We deny it not. Let this image be the most beautiful and perfect which the devotee is able to procure; or if he be able to paint or to carve the same, it is all the better. As for Deities with whose nature no Image is compatible, let them be worshipped in an empty shrine. Such are Brahma, and Allah. Also some postcaptivity conceptions of Jehovah."-Liber Astarte Ogun is the Orisha that spoke out to me. I am consulting Liber Astarte from the Equinox and following it's basis of instruction. This is the image that was collaged for this unique purpose. I will be constructing a shrine this week and commence experimentation with Devotion. Protecting ritual elements from the profane is a challenge. The objective is to render the moment sacred. Surprisingly, I over looked the opportunity to integrate a component of the eight circuit model into the artistic imagery. Contemplation upon this missing component is satisfactory however. The Anal-Emotional Territorial Circuit. Observe a connection with the rum and alcohol intoxication with this Deity. Devotion is a an active engagement of mythos that shapes the course of behavior and thought. If conducted with sincerity. It is software, nothing more. Memes and culture are to be investigated for use and discarded minus the benefits. "It is like eating fish.Eat the flesh and toss out the bones."

Parts and proportions

"Technologic is the likeliest of candidates. Observe and report are the orders. Sources of information come from distant lands where interruptions are few and time space is immeasurable. Following a flux is a tragic attempt for anyone who is unaware of the activity." Currently hosting two Marmorkrebs. One small emily's garden hydroponic system. I am without the duckweed at this time. Looking to harvest a specific variety of duckweed. As of yet, I have not deduced the variety. More research is necessary. We are still awaiting seeds for the emily's garden.Next month I will be purchasing a worm composter. It will generate the compost tea for the small herbs in the emily's garden. A substitute for traditional chemical additives used with hydroponic systems. I allowed my website to expire. I am not entirely certain as to why I have withdrawn so much. Could it be possible to withdraw out of respect? It is not the intent to cast the term abandonment at the relationships that I have shelved. So much is evolutionary in my terms for personal association, they do not hold fast. Quickly they evolve and often out grow the person responsible for their summoning. The occult and buddhism suggest large territories for the expansion of internal and external symbolism(model of hierarchical complexity). General semantics is a promising avenue for non-aristotelian thinking.

Biomass

This brief note about the sense of being that floats over the undulating surface. Let the surface become still.

Duckweed lays over the serenity. Long tails like chains drag under dredging. An untouched commodity that possesses incredible facts. Cleanses grey water and is ridiculously high in protein content.
I have been tending to a crop for some time now. Along with this go with the Marmorkrebs. All female and self replicating.
The trick is finding the right ratio for replication to occur.

Rabbits are another reasonable staple. New Zealands have lovely pelts. Duckweed serves as their feed also. Biogas can also be harvested off decomposing duckweed and rabbit shit. The rabbit shit is packed with nitrogen and seconds only to the elephant in that regard.

A stew.
